SIMMONDSIA
CHINENSIS
(JOJOBA)

Jojoba is used in both skin and hair care products for it’s conditioning qualities, as well as for it’s hair strengthening and dandruff reduction properties.

From the Mojave desert of Arizona, California, and Mexico, Jojoba is used in different cosmetic preparations in both it’s oil and wax form. It can be used as an emollient or carrier oil. A major different from other products is that, in it’s wax form, jojoba is 97% monounsaturated, straight-chain acids. It also has a high molecular weight, making it a closer cousin to whale oil than most vegetable oils. Jojoba also contains antioxidants used to fight aging and, because it closely resembles the natural sebum found in skin, it can provide excellent moisture control without a greasy residue.
